The remains of Rosa Chacon, 21, were recovered Wednesday near the intersection of 24th Place and Western Avenue in Chicago, according to WMAQ.

Chacon’s body was found in a laundry cart about 2 miles from where she was last seen on Jan. 18, WFLD reported. Her body was found tied up, wrapped in sheets, and dumped in the cart.

Family members identified the remains as Chacon by her tattoos, WGN-TV reported.

“It’s hard but I’m standing. I want justice for my daughter,” Chacon’s mother, Rosa, told WGN-TV. “How are you going to put a human being in an alley? That’s not right. I just want justice for my daughter, that’s all I want.”

It is unclear where Chacon was going the last day her family saw her, but they say she was not the one who called the Uber, WGN-TV reported.

Her family told WLS-TV that she did not take important personal items, like her ID, with her.

“I miss my baby,” Chacon’s father Jose Lucio told the news outlet. “Normally when our daughter leaves, we hear from her. She calls the next day, she calls an hour after she leaves, she’s in a house, she’s secure, she’s nice and warm. But we didn’t hear anything.”

The Cook County medical examiner’s office told WFLD that Chacon’s cause and manner of death are still under investigation.

Chacon’s body is the second body to be found in the area over the last few weeks, WGN-TV reported.
