Police arrest transient for home invasion

Dennis Nino

Orlando police arrest Dennis Nino, a transient, for the home invasion and robbery of a woman held her against her will by knifepoint.

Detectives say the 24-year-old suspect stopped a woman who was leaving her home at the Venetian Place Condos on Commander Drive around 7:00 last night as she was preparing to take her dog for a walk.

Police say the Nino then tied her up with duct tape and stole items including dvds, video games, a gaming system and two computers.

According to the arrest affidavit, the victim asked Nino if he was going to kill her, rape her or kill her dog. He said no, but added "you should have been my girlfriend."

Just before noon today, an officer on patrol spotted and arrested Nino without incident at Semoran Blvd and Grant Street. The suspect admitted that he knew the police were looking for him last night. He also threatened his victim, telling police "She isn't safe and God's wrath will come upon her."

Nino was taken to jail this afternoon.
