Orlando police warn of scam promoting fake event at Lake Eola

Orlando, Fla. — Police in Orlando have issued a warning about a scam that is targeting small business owners and crafters on social media.

The scam is in the form of a social media flyer that promotes a fake “October Festival” at Lake Eola on October 23rd and 24th, and charges various booth fees and asks personal information to be sent to an email address.

Police have confirmed that the event is fake and that if you see it, you should report it here.

To avoid similar scams, police recommend doing your research and of course, stick to trustworthy platforms for sharing info and making payments.
