ORLANDO, FL — Starting June 4th, Central Florida will have a new area code.
Anyone in Orange, Osceola and Seminole counties getting a new cellphone or landline numbers will get a 689 area code.
The change also affects parts of Lake and Volusia counties.
The Florida Public Service commission said the current 407 and 321 area codes are running out of number options. The change was approved last year to get ahead of the problem.
