A FedEx driver made headlines this week for all the wrong reasons.
WFLA-TV reports Jonathan Simkins was driving on a busy Tampa road when he noticed a FedEx truck up ahead driving well below the speed limit.
Simpkins told the NBC affiliate that he knew something wasn't right when he saw the other drivers.
“There’s cars stopping. There’s cars veering off the road. They know something is wrong,” Simkins said.
As Simkins approached the FedEx truck, he noticed something. The driver appeared to be asleep.
Simkins speeds up alongside the truck and tries to wake the driver up. That's when things got dangerous.
The truck swerves over the median and into oncoming traffic. Luckily, the driver swerves back into his lane before hitting any other vehicles.
Simkins says he was able to convince the driver to pull over and surrender his keys.
Hillsborough County deputies responded to the scene but did not cite the driver because they did not witness what happened.
