Author and criminal defense lawyer Jerome F. Buting, known for his role as the attorney who represented Steven Avery in the critically acclaimed Netflix documentary Making a Murderer, will be the special guest speaker for the Orange County Library System’s next Library After Hours event, taking place September 13 at the Orlando Public Library. During the event, Buting will discuss his 2017 book, Illusion of Justice: Inside Making a Murderer and America’s Broken System, which uses the Avery case to illustrate flaws in the criminal justice system. He will provide insight into the problematic forensic science used in many cases, false confessions and eyewitness testimonies, and the terrifying reality of biased interrogations.

Illusion of Justice: An Evening with Author Jerome F. Buting takes place at the Orlando Public Library, 101 E. Central Blvd., on Friday, September 13 at 7 p.m. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.
