Here’s where you can celebrate Memorial Day in Central Florida

Orlando, Fla. — It’s a very different vibe for Memorial Day 2021 compared to last year, as residents begin to ditch the face masks and attend both big and small events outdoors. Since Memorial Day is all about honoring and remembering the men and women to sacrificed their lives in the service, there are plenty of events going on around Central Florida in honor of the occasion.

In Orange County, Mayor Jerry Demings will be hosting the War Memorial Commemoration Ceremony at City Hall. Members of the military will pay their respects with remarks, followed by a wreath laying ceremony. The event kicks off at 9 a.m. Also, in Orlando, there will be a Memorial Day event held at Nona Adventure Park on Centerline Drive at 10 a.m.

Meanwhile in Seminole County, there will be a commemoration event at Veterans Memorial Park on West Seminole Boulevard in Sanford. During the event, several speakers will deliver remarks and honor local gold star families. That event kicks of at 10 a.m. Also, in Oviedo, there is a ceremony that will be held at the First United Methodist Church on 263 King Street at 11 a.m. Finally, in Apopka, the city, along with the Foreign Wars Post 10147 invites the public to attend their ceremony at the Veterans Memorial at the Edgewood-Greenwood Cemetery on 141 South Edgewood Drive.
