Democrat Scott Fuhrman has been arrested for drunk driving, underage drinking and leaving the scene of an accident. But instead of hiding his troubled past, the Congressional candidate is putting the issues at the forefront of his campaign.
“I want you to vote for me,” Fuhrman says in the 2-minute campaign advertisement, “but I want you to know who I am, and who I was.”
Fuhrman is a businessman who owns a juice bottling company in Miami. The candidate for Florida's 27th district said he released court documents pertaining to his arrests to give voters a clear picture of his past.
On his campaign website, Fuhrman admits to multiple arrests during his time at Florida State University and possession of a firearm while driving under the influence.
The South Florida native touts his business experience and deep ties to the community as his primary qualifications to run for Congress.
Fuhrman is running against Republican candidate Ileana Ros-Lehtinen. He becomes the first candidate to face her in eight years.
