Windermere Police Officer Jason Darnell was arrested Friday morning following an investigation by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, according to Windermere Police Chief David Ogden.
"Officer Jason Darnell of the Windermere Police Department was arrested on criminal charges," said Ogden.
Officers Ryan Miller and Darnell have been the subjects of an FDLE investigation following accusations of "bias-based profiling." Both officers were suspended without pay.
According to Windermere police, Darnell is charged with two counts of threatening a public servant with the intent to influence a public duty and three counts of official misconduct, including racial profiling while on patrol. The charges are second and third-degree felonies.
Officials say Darnell has been with the department for five years. Miller has not been arrested.
