Warning: Don’t microwave your money to kill the coronavirus

Scranton, Penn. — One bank worker was shocked to receive a bundle of charred $50 bills.

Jeffrey Decker posted a photo of the charred greenbacks on his Facebook page, saying he works in a bank and the drive-thru is still open.

The customer told him he/she tried to sanitize the money in the microwave, then asked Decker to save any of the bills if possible.

Decker simply said, “I can’t.”

As of Friday morning, his post has been shared 163 thousand times and has more than 14 thousand comments like the one that suggests spraying the bills with Lysol works.

Will Kay commented,  “Literally. Lol. Is there a figurative way to microwave it?” and Chantel Peregrino wrote, “Just send me your money if you don’t want it,  I can write you a check for it.”

I work at a bank. We are still open through drive up. Someone literally microwaved their money to "sanitize it" and sent...
