Kelly Pichardo was sentenced to four months in prison after her “unruly and intimidating” behavior on an American Airlines flight.

The New York woman was found to have interfered with flight crew during a flight in 2021. Pichardo and co-defendant Leeza Rodriguez were accused of assaulting a passenger and then using racial slurs. The flight, which was headed to Los Angeles from Dallas, had to make an unscheduled landing in Phoenix due to their behavior.

“There is a line between boorish behavior on an airplane and criminal activity, and the defendant clearly crossed it,” US Attorney Gary Restaino said. “First class passengers are not immune from prosecution.”
