VIDEO: Costco drops brand of coconut milk following claims they use forced MONKEY labor

Monkeys enslaved as coconut workers

Costco is reportedly no longer purchasing Chaokoh coconut milk after PETA alleges the brand’s manufacturer uses forced monkey labor.

PETA says that Theppadungporn Coconut Co. has been using animal cruelty tactics at farms and facilities. Among these tactics, it is suggested the company keeps monkeys chained to tires when not picking coconuts and may be pulling teeth from monkeys who are defensive.

Chaokoh says the opposite is happening with a statement saying they do not engage the use of monkey labour in our coconut plantations."

PETA shared a letter from Costco’s Vice President of of Corporate Food and Sundries, Ken Kimble, saying, “We have made it clear to the supplier we do not support the use of monkeys for harvesting and that all harvesting must be done by human labor.”
