The Taliban has officially declared the ‘Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan’, renaming the country shortly after taking the capital city of Kabul.
The name was previously used from 1996-2001, before the Taliban was ousted by the U.S. military following 9/11.
Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid tweeted out the new name and logo on Thursday.
The U.S. is still in the process of evacuating thousands of Americans and Afghan citizens out of the country.
