10-year-old Mount Dora boy killed in car crash

MOUNT DORA, Fla. (AP) A 10-year-old boy has died after he was hit by a car while standing on the side of the road. 
 Florida Highway Patrol officials said Nathan Hayes and his father were driving to a friend's house Saturday when they swerved to avoid hitting a fallen tree. But they ended up hitting another tree, disabling their truck. 

 Hayes' father told him to stand on the shoulder of the road. That's when authorities say 73-year-old Richard Sineath lost control of his vehicle and hit the boy as he tried to avoid the disabled truck and the fallen tree. 

     Hayes was pronounced dead at the hospital. 

     Authorities said charges are not expected.
