Woman killed in Daytona Beach pizza place shooting, suspect sought

Michael Guardino

Daytona Beach Police are looking for a suspect who shot and killed a woman at a pizza place early Saturday morning.

The police report says 22 year-old Michael Guardino shot 24 year-old Victoria Akers after she intervened in an argument between one of her friends and Guardino.

When officers showed up to the Italian Pizza and Grill on North Atlantic Avenue after 1 a.m., Akers was on the sidewalk bleeding from a hole in her neck. Her husband, Cody Akers was trying to control the bleeding.  She was eventually taken to Halifax Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

After the shooting, police say Guardino ran from the area towards Seabreeze Boulevard.  He has since been on the run.

Police say Guardino was not known to Akers before the shooting.  They say Guardino was familiar with one of her friends.

A reward is being offered leading to Guardino's arrest.
