Two of central Florida's top tourism executives resign Visit Orlando president and CEO George Aguel and Central Florida Hotel and Lodging Association President and CEO Rich Maladecki (Visit Orlando)

Orlando, Fla. — Central Florida Hotel and Lodging Association President and CEO Rich Maladecki announced he will retire at the end of February.

Maladecki who has held the position for nearly three decades, recently turned 66 and told the Orlando Business Journal that he always “wanted to step back” at 66 years old.

Visit Orlando President and CEO George Aguel, 67, also announced his retirement Thursday.

Before heading up Visit Orlando, Aguel retired from an executive position with the Walt Disney company in 2013.

Although the tourism organization has seen drastic cuts in funding, Aguel said he wants to spend more time with his family.

He tells the Orlando Business Journal he still wants to travel the world, but now for himself and his family, not for business. . “I have never taken more than two weeks of vacation at one time in my life.”
