Two toddlers have died after falling into a pool in Polk County Friday evening.
Cops say the children, who are cousins, were found face down in a pool at their grandparent’s home on Morning Dove Circle in Lakeland.
18-month old Silas Lugo-Walsh and 2-year-old Jayvien Watkins, were pronounced deceased at the hospital over the weekend.
Cops say the boys wandered away from the house before falling into the swimming pool.
The incident appeared to be a tragic accident.
According to investigators, the father of one of the children was upstairs sleeping and his wife was downstairs.
They eventually realized the toddlers were missing and found them in the pool.
Deputies said the pool was gated, but the latch wasn’t working.
The investigation remains ongoing and autopsies will be done on the victims.
