MIAMI — Tropical Storm Nicholas has formed in the southwestern Gulf of Mexico, not a full day following the peak of the 2021 Atlantic Hurricane Season.
Four other disturbances, three of which are much closer to Africa than the U.S., are being given low-to-medium chances of cyclone formation in the next five days; Disturbance 5, closer to Florida than either Tropical Storm Nicholas or any other system of note, has a 50% chance of going tropical by Friday, according to the NHC.
Starting Monday, Tropical Storm Nicholas is expected to bring tropical storm conditions to the northeastern coast of Mexico and potentially all of the Texas coast, according to the National Hurricane Center.
