Orange County, Fla. — At least 11 people were injured Sunday afternoon as shoppers and employees rushed out of the Florida after someone set off fireworks as a diversion to rob a jewelry store.
Deputies responded around 5:45 p.m. to reports of gunshots, but they were able to determine that it was just fireworks. They say it was a distraction used to rob a jewelry store inside the mall.
One witness tweeted that it looks like it was in the area around J.C. Penney.
Orange County Fire Rescue says 11 people were injured, five of whom were taken to the hospital.
No word yet on any possible suspects.
