Tampa -- The hammer has come down on Thunderbug.
According to various reports in Tampa, the woman who worked as the Lightning”s mascot “ThunderBug” has been fired after an altercation with a Bruins fan in the stands January 17.
The fan shoved the mascot from behind after the mascot had doused him with silly string.
Ushers spoke to the man in the concourse, but he later was allowed to return to his seat.
Earlier this week, the NHL's Tampa Bay Lightning confirmed the mascot performer will not work another game for the team. The woman had been with them since 2009.
A Lightning spokesman said the incident played a part in the team’s decision, but it wasn’t the only factor.
