Orlando police are still investigating a double murder at the Watersedge subdivision in the Lake Nona area.
Police received a call about the shooting on Sunday around 7:20 p.m.
"We heard a lot of, maybe five, shots. Like real loud bangs," Tyler Israel told Channel Nine Eyewitness News.
As the SWAT team moved inside the home, there were confronted by a suspect who was coming out of the back door, according to police.
That led officers to open fire on the suspect.
"One of our officers shot the guy because he was not obeying our orders to drop the weapon that he had, or to get on the ground," OPD Sgt. Vince Ogburn said.
Two women inside the home had been shot and killed; one is believed to be the suspect's wife. Two children inside the home were not hurt during the shooting.
Police say the suspect was taken to the hospital from gunshot wounds he suffered.
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is investigating the case.
