Campbell Soup apologized Saturday for a tweet from its SpaghettiOs brand marking the anniversary of the Pearl Harbor attacks that day that many thought was cheerily inappropriate.
The picture showed SpaghettiOs smiling pasta mascot jauntily holding an American flag with the message: "Take a moment to remember #PearlHarbor with us."
Thousands of people quickly retweeted it and noted the inappropriate tone, which led Campbells to delete the tweet and send out the apology:
"We apologize for our recent tweet in remembrance of Pearl Harbor Day. We meant to pay respect, not to offend."
