KISSIMMEE, FL — On Tuesday, Osceola County opened a new training facility for Osceola County firefighters in Kissimmmee.
The 11-acre site is located at 3186 Pershing Street, and will allow for a variety of training scenarios. Those includes a 44-foot-tall tower, hose and hydrant evolutions, ground ladder work, and live fire training. Firefighters will also get driver training as well on site.
Comission Chairwomen Cheryl Frieb said the new facility is, “a $6 million commitment to public safety.”
Plans and a concept for the fire training facility began in 2012.
The site was previously known as the Gilbert Park Residential Development, and was used by the Army Air Corps for training before and during World War II.
Valencia College will also use part of the driver pad for driver training.
