Orlando, Fla. — The Orange County Sheriff’s Office are investigating a death that took place at the Winnie Palmer Hospital on West Miller Street Sunday morning.

They say around 10:45 a.m., Orlando police were called to the hospital because in reference to a dead person  inside a car. Hospital security advised that a white female , now identified as  28 year old Rosa Alcides Viera drove up to the valet area and was argumentative while asking for medical assistance for a female passenger, identified as 12 year old Aleyda Rivera. It was then that hospital staff was able to determine that the Rivera was dead, suffering from multiple stab wounds.

They say Viera then became aggressive and pulled out a knife, but was able to be detained by officers and hospital security without incident. Viera is in custody and the charges against here are forthcoming.

The hospital was briefly on lock down, but the lock down has been lifted. The main was also temporarily closed for the investigation, which is still in its early stages, but has since been re-opened. Since the incident occurred within the jurisdiction of Orange County, Orlando police then handed over the investigation to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office.
