ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — Orange County Public Schools says it has lost nearly 50 employees following a federal judge’s decision involving temporary deportation protections for Haitians in the United States.
Last week, a federal judge allowed the Trump administration to end Temporary Protected Status, or TPS, for thousands of Haitians living in the U.S.
OCPS leaders said the ruling resulted in the district losing nearly 50 employees, a majority of whom were support staff.
The end of TPS is expected to impact more than 350,000 Haitian immigrants nationwide.
