News 96.5's Joe Kelley back home, recovering from enterovirus D68

Joe Kelley - while in an Orlando hospital for treatment of enterovirus D68

Orlando's Morning News Host Joe Kelley made headlines across Central Florida after he shared his diagnosis and experience with Enterovirus D68.

Kelley is now back home after ten days in isolation -- always remaining in good spirits.

The talk show host shared updates on his hospital stay on his Facebook page as well as on Twitter.

Joe Kelley says hospital workers confirmed his diagnosis of the potentially deadly Enterovirus D68.

But the Centers For Disease Control does not confirm cases of the virus in adults, making him the 'unofficial' first case in Orange County.

Kelley awoke to a 102.9° fever two weeks ago and quickly drove to the emergency room.

Since then, he recalls endless tests and nurses in full medical gear during his time in the hospital.

"I sit alone, on my hospital bed, where sticky tabs and wires monitor my heart rhythm" Kelley writes, "an IV drip runs cold into a vein in my arm and I continue to breathe oxygen through the assistant of a thin, green tube."

Joe Kelley says he will now need to recover at home for about a week, but that he can't wait to return as the host of Orlando's Morning News on News 96.5.

The entire staff here at News 96.5 also anxiously awaits the return of Joe Kelley's signature Nerf gun.
