95 ‘naughty’ suspects nabbed in Polk County sex sting

Operation Naughty Not Nice

Deputies rounded up 95 people suspected of participating in prostitution in Polk County during a five-day operation called “Operation Naughty, Not Nice.”

Of those arrested, 33 were accused soliciting prostitution, 50 were alleged prostitutes and 17 were accused of participating in other ways, the Polk County Sheriff’s Office said.

One woman arrested on a charge of prostitution brought her boyfriend and 2-year-old child, who unknowingly waited in the car during the sting.

Online ads posted by undercover detectives during the sting brought in alleged prostitutes and people accused of seeking their services from thousands of miles away, the Sheriff’s Office said.

Of those arrested, one was a 33-year-old algebra teacher at George Jenkins High School in Lakeland, and another was a 68-year-old man, who rode his bike across the city wearing a French maid costume under his clothes.

He was also wearing a dog collar, authorities said.

Of the 95 arrested, 17 told deputies they were married, 25 said they were on public assistance and only 28 were Polk County residents.

A total of 21 felony and 111 misdemeanor charges were filed as a result of the operation.

Amongst the 95 suspects arrested, their criminal histories showed a total of 205 previous felony and 399 previous misdemeanor charges.
