WINTER PARK, Fla. - The mother and sister of a Winter Park High School teenager who police said was beaten to death said they are relieved that arrests have been made in the case.

The 15-year-old’s family said they hope the charges lead to jail time.

“Every day I’m going to wake up without my boy,” said Roger Trindade’s mother, Adriana Trindade.

The family is still struggling to cope with their loss.

“It’s been hard because, my mom, she can’t sleep. My dad wakes up in the middle of the night,” said the victim’s sister, Laura Koch.

The family moved to Winter Park in January from Brazil.

“Every day when he (woke) up, he came to me and said, ‘Good morning, mommy I love you,’” said Adriana Trindade.

Police said Trindade was beaten in Central Park in October.

The medical examiner ruled the teen’s death a homicide by blunt force trauma.

“This (breaks) my heart. You know, because I care so much (for this) boy all my life, and you know, in five minutes, I don’t have my boy,” said Adriana Trindade.

Police arrested Jesse Sutherland, 15, and Simeon Hall, 15, on manslaughter and battery in the case, and Jagger Gouda, 14, was arrested on a charge of tempering with a witness.

“I hope they keep these boys in jail for a lot of time,” said Adriana Trindade.

A judge ordered two of the suspects to remain in jail for a month.
