Laura Peters is a long-time promotions manager at Cox Media Group here in Orlando - overseeing the fun & games at K92.3, 98.9WMMO and News 96.5 WDBO.
She's a college graduate.
She's an accomplished pianist.
She's a classically-trained singer.
And now, Laura can add 'American citizen' to her lifetime acheivements.
Yet many of us who see Laura in the hallways each day here at the Cox Media Group - Orlando broadcast headquarters hardly suspected we were sharing coffee, productivity and good times with a non-American. She's missing all the signs of 'not being from here,' like a decernable accent, clogged shoes or eating peas off your knife.
Fate ultimately decided that Laura was destined to be born in Wales, which she assures us is really a place.
While still in pigtails and braces, Laura and her family moved to the Greatest Civilization Ever Known to Mankind - AMERICA!™
She went to high school and college here in Orlando and has been knocking our socks off here at CMG since.
Laura took her oath of citizenship the week before America's celebrated Independence Day.
Now, Laura Peters will join the vaunted list of amazing immigrants to the United States of America - genius Albert Einstein, tennis pro Martina Navratilova and 'I Can't Believe It's Not Butter' hunky pitchman Fabio.
She's excited about having the opportunity to vote in her first presidential election ... though maybe not THIS presidential election.
Who was the first President of the United States, I asked her?
"George Washington!"
Who was the SECOND President of the United States?
"Oh, that wasn't in our book!"
She's going to fit in perfectly with all the rest of us, y'all!
