Dan Maurer has a giant scrotum.
Seriously-- it weighs nearly 100 pounds!
"When I go out, people do look. They try to be polite, you can see when something's not right," he said.
Maurer says it's affected his health for nearly two decades. As the growth got bigger, he's gone to see a number of doctors, but says they misdiagnosed him every time. Their advice: lose weight.
"I was doing 2 miles a day in the pool, so I lost 50 pounds like that."
He got smaller, but his scrotum kept growing.
"It was frustrating for the both of us", says Mauer's wife, Mindy. "They're the top people in the area. If they don't know, nobody does."
It wasn't until the 39-year old saw a TLC show, called The Man with the 132-Pound Scrotum, that he figured it out. Mauer has a rare condition called scrotal lymphedema, caused by blockages in the lymphatic vessels.
Now, he says he has hope and he plans to remove it. The surgery is dangerous and expensive, which is why he's hoping the community will pitch in to help.
