TAMPA, Fla. —
Deputies say a 36-year-old man is in good condition after jumping off the Sunshine Skyway bridge, which spans Tampa Bay. Hillsborough County Sheriff's deputies say John Stewart Murray of Pinellas Park attempted suicide early Friday by jumping off the bridge.
Authorities say Stewart was conscious when he hit the water and a boater picked him up. He was taken to Bayfront Medical Center, where he is receiving further medical evaluations. Stewart apparently jumped from the center span of the bridge.
No further details were immediately available.
