Sanford police are searching for two gunmen who shot and killed a man Wednesday night, according to WFTV.
Police said the man was standing in front of a home on Avocado Avenue and West 12th Street at about 10 p.m. when two other men walked up to him and opened fire.
“Two unknown males approached this house here and opened fire on another individual who was transported to the hospital and pronounced dead,” Capt. Jim McAuliffe of the Sanford Police Department said.
Witnesses and police say there were several gunshots.
“I just heard gunshots. I was on my way home,” a witness, who did not want to be identified said. “Four to five shots, you know, it was hard to determine where it was coming from.”
Police said they don't know what the motive of the shooting is. Investigators also said they have little information about the gunmen, but they believe both fled on foot.
The name of the shooting victim was not released.
