As investigators dig deeper into the past of Las Vegas gunman Stephen Paddock trying to find a motive behind the mass shooting, authorities say he may have been targeting several concerts in the past couple of months, including the Lollapalooza festival in August. Among the more than 400,000 attendees was former President Barack Obama's oldest daughter Malia.
According to TMZ, Paddock booked two rooms at the Blackstone Hotel in Chicago across the street from where the festival took place, giving him a similar view of the crowd as he had in Las Vegas from the Mandalay Bay hotel.
Lollapalooza was held from August 3 to 6 this year and Paddock's rooms were booked from August 1 to 6 and August 3 to 6, the Daily Mail reports. Paddock reportedly never showed up.
Authorities say he also may have been casing the Life is Beautiful festival in Las Vegas last month where Chance the Rapper and Lorde performed. Paddock had requested specific rooms at the Ogden, a luxury condo tower that overlooked the open-air concert but moved on after finding out the rooms were already booked.
Paddock would eventually choose the Route 91 Harvest country music festival on Sunday to carry out the worst mass shooting in American history.
