ORLANDO, Fla. - Today is a day to celebrate a drink most people enjoy on a daily basis. A study conducted by the National Coffee Association showed around two-thirds of American adults, or 66 percent, drink coffee every day.

“Coffee holds a unique place in Americans’ daily lives—no other beverage is such a beloved and prominent touchstone,” NCA President and CEO Bill Murray commented in 2025. “Coffee’s popularity brews big benefits for American coffee drinkers and the entire U.S. economy, and we expect America’s love affair with coffee to continue for many decades to come.”
According to the website National Day Calendar, Sept. 29 is National Coffee Day.
Coffee has been a beverage of choice since the mid-15th century, when monasteries in Yemen started roasting coffee beans to brew coffee. Traders had brought the seeds from Ethiopia to grow them in Yemen. Coffee then went to Italy and then the rest of Europe, Indonesia, and then the Americas.

The popular beverage even has health benefits too. A recent study published in the European Journal of Nutrition found that moderate consumption of unsweetened coffee was associated with a lower risk of cardiovascular disease.

And, if you’re looking for a deal on your cup of joe today, you should have no problem finding one. Plenty of places are offering them - from Starbucks to Krispy Kreme, Dunkin and 7-Eleven.
