Incumbents re-elected in Orlando, Longwood gets three new commissioners

Orlando, Fla — Voter turn out was steady strong in Orlando and in Seminole County Tuesday.

In Orlando, City Commissioners Robert Stuart, Jim Gray, and Regina Hill were all re-elected, but Stuart and Hill faced stiff competition.

With 100 percent of precincts reporting in District 1, Gray received 1,621 votes with challenger Tom Keen coming in second with 1,208 votes.  In District 3, Stuart received 3,207, narrowly edging out challenger Asima Azam, who received 3,085 votes.

In District 5, Hill came out on top of a crowded field of six challengers with 1,146 votes, barely avoiding a runoff by getting more than 50 percent of the votes cast.

In Seminole County, Longwood voters elected 3 newcomers to city hall - Abby Shoemaker, Richard Drummond and Matt Morgan, a former professional wrestler who beat incumbent Mark Weller for the district 4 seat.   The City of Oviedo re-elected mayor Dominic Persampiere and councilman Steve Henken.
