The Polk County Sheriff's Office says two of the 128 people arrested in a human trafficking operation have been busted for the same crime before.Â
In the week long sting dubbed 'Operation Grand Slam', detectives targeted prostitutes, johns and pimps who used the Internet to find other people looking to profit from prostitution and those looking to have sex with minors.
The break down of the arrests are disturbing, 19 of the 128 suspects told detectives they are married. Sixty-nine people had previous criminal arrest histories including 3 suspects that have been to state prison for their crimes.
21 suspects received monthly public assistance, and two had been arrested in previous PCSO undercover operations for the same crime. At least four of the suspects who are accused of soliciting undercover detectives thought they would be having sex with a 14-year-old.
An identified female arrested, told detectives that the two men who dropped her off and picked her up required her to give them all the money she made through prostitution in exchange for taking care of her and providing her with food.
A 31-year-old married man from Longwood, Jordan Raskin receives monthly assistance, contacted the undercover detective using a mobile app.
24-year-old Jaeil Byun of Havertown, PA, traveled to Polk County planning to pay $60 to have sex with whom he believed to be a 14-year-old girl.
In total, there were 78 suspects charged who were offering sex in exchange for money; 32 who offered money in exchange for sex and 11 suspects who drove prostitutes to the location deriving proceeds from the activity. 2 suspects who accompanied other suspects were also charged.
