Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton paid tribute to Rosa Parks on the 60th anniversary of her arrest for refusing to give up her bus seat to a white passenger.Â
Parks has become a world renowned hero for her actions on December 1, 1955 in an effort to fight against segregated seating. To mark the occasion, Clinton posted a special campaign logo on her Facebook page that some aren't too thrilled about.Â
The logo shows Parks wearing a red dress, a black hat, and holding a purse sitting in an H-shaped seat. But some critics say it appears as though Parks is seated in the back of the H-shaped bus.Â
"Hillary Clinton's PR team needs to be stopped," said Twitter user Kristen Mc Hugh. "That Rosa Park-ish logo is an obscenity of cultural incompetence."Â
Still, Clinton had many supporters of her Parks-inspired logo.
"Rosa Parks and Hillary Clinton - Sheroes!!" said Karen Murphy.
Clinton spoke about Parks legacy in Alabama on Tuesday and her contribution to the civil rights movement.
"It's always struck me how, depending on the way you look at it, Rosa Parks either did something tremendous or something rather humble."
History often gets made on ordinary days by seemingly ordinary people—December 1, 1955 was one of them. Thank you, Rosa Parks. -H
