The 2023 Community Crime Survey is designed to gather feedback from residents on ways to combat gun violence and violent crime in the community.

The first survey took place in 2021, and the updated version will help guide the task force in developing more solutions to meet the growing public safety needs of Orange County.

The task force was reassembled after three people, including a TV reporter and 9-year-old girl, were murdered in Pine Hills in February. Two others were injured in the mass shooting.

Demings said the task force doesn’t need to start all over again. He said they can make changes and improvements to the programs they already have. They want to make sure they keep track of what works and what doesn’t work.

The 2023 survey will be available online following Demings’ announcement on Tuesday.
