MARION COUNTY, Fla. — The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal crash involving two drivers at the intersection of SW 49th Avenue Road and SW 82nd Place Road on Saturday afternoon.
The crash occurred as two vehicles were traveling northbound at high speeds on SW 49th Avenue Road. A third vehicle was attempting to enter the roadway from SW 82nd Place Road when it was struck on the left side by one of the speeding cars.
Occupants from the struck vehicle were transported to a hospital following the collision. One of the passengers was later pronounced deceased.
The second reckless vehicle did not stop at the intersection. Troopers said the vehicle continued traveling northbound on SW 49th Avenue Road.
Charges are currently pending against the driver of the first vehicle involved in the crash.
