Female teen bodybuilder bullied for buff bod

At age 19, Georgina McConnell is already a successful bodybuilder winning awards as well as the respect of her peers.

She began lifting weights at age 14 and by 17 had officially decided to become a professional bodybuilder.

"Originally, like most girls, I wanted to be thin and toned so a lot of the things I did in the gym revolved around cardio and very light weights," she wrote in her bio for Anabolic Designs. "After going to the gym for a while, I started to see a lot of changes within myself and realized that I had the ability to gain muscle and change my body."

She competed for her first time in May 2012, taking home second place and fell in love with the sport, writing, "I really felt like I belonged up there and it is something that I am very passionate about."

In June, she landed first place at the United Kingdom Bodybuilding and Fitness Federation North East Championships in the women's physique category.

But all of her success hasn't gone without challenges.

For as many compliments as McConnell gets on her physique, she receives just as many insults for her "freakish" body.

Tired of the relentless negative offense against her, she took to her Facebook fanpage to confront her attackers, writing, "...personally I don't know where people get off being really really harsh about the way someone looks I could and wouldn't dream of saying half of the stuff that gets said about me...I know what I'm doing and I'm doing it for me. I don't see muscle as anything masculine at all."

McConnell is currently preparing to show at the UKBFF British Championships in October.
