Identities released of young men involved in deadly deputy-involved shooting outside Osceola Target

OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. — Update:

Two young men were accused of shoplifting pizza and Pokémon cards from an Osceola County Target store, before deputies shot and killed a man and three others were injured outside the store.

According to the family attorney, Jayden Alexander Baez was the driver of the black Audi In the Target parking lot on April 28th. The 20-year-old was shot and killed by Osceola county deputies after they said two passengers in his car were accused of stealing Pokémon cards and a pizza from Target.

According to an arrest affidavit, Michael Gomez and Joseph Lowe were seen by deputies shoplifting a pizza and Pokémon cards from Target. The duo left the store and got back into the SUV Baez was driving, but the reports do not say what led to the shooting.

According to Baez’s family attorney, he was shot in the chest and died.

The attorney said his other client, Lowe, was sitting in the passenger seat and had his hands up and was shot six times, mostly in his hands, and remains in the hospital.
