Global Marine Explorations, GME, announced Wednesday, the discovery of three bronze cannons dating back to the early colonial period.
The artifacts were found in the waters off of Cape Canaveral.
The discovery was made back in May but, was kept a secret for security reasons.
Initially the artifacts were thought to be remains of the lost French ships commanded by Jean Ribault in 1565, but evidence has since ruled that theory out.
GME stated that the identity of the sunken vessel or vessel may never be know.
