A German-based company, Lilium, is teaming up with Tavistock to begin construction of a transportation hub that will become the home of Orlando’s air taxi.
The seven-acre site located south of the airport will provide the country’s first urban and regional air mobility network as well as Lilium’s first U.S. network location.
The launch date is expected in 2025 and once open, the Lake Nona Vertiport is expected to accommodate thousands of passengers each year.

Lilium states on its website, “Lake Nona’s central location provides the opportunity to connect more than 20 million Floridians within a 186-mile radius, serving several major cities including Orlando and Tampa.”
The Lilium Jet is a brand-new type of aircraft that will enable it to deliver regional journeys that are considerably faster than rail or road, yet competitive in price - although no price range has been announced.
The vehicle can seat five people, is fully-electric, and can take-off and land vertically (eVTOL).
The City of Orlando is offering Lilium a tax break for the project which is expected to bring more than 100 jobs to the area.
