CBS has fired one of the company’s top lawyers after she posted what they call ‘deeply unacceptable’ comments on Facebook about the victims of the mass shooting in Las Vegas.
"I'm actually not even sympathetic [because] country music fans often are Republican gun toters," former executive Hayley Geftman-Gold wrote. "If they wouldn't do anything when children were murdered I have no hope that Repugs will ever do the right thing."
Those comments didn't sit well with some of her 'friends' and the post went viral. Geftman-Gold was fired immediately on Monday.
On Sunday, 59 people were killed and more than 500 were injured when Stephen Paddock opened fire from his Mandalay Bay hotel room onto a crowd of 20,000 at the Route 91 Harvest Festival.
CBS responded to the situation in a statement:
"This individual, who was with us for approximately one year, violated the standards of our company and is no longer an employee of CBS. Her views as expressed on social media are deeply unacceptable to all of us at CBS. Our hearts go out to the victims in Las Vegas and their families.”
