ORLANDO, Fla. — The Orange County Sheriff’s Office ended their search for a missing man in Lake Conway upon finding his body at noon.
Initially, Orange County Fire Rescue aided the OCSO Marine Unit and Dive Team during their first night-time search for a Hispanic male in his 40′s who eyewitnesses told police entered the water at approximately 7:53 p.m. Saturday night and never emerged.
That’s when deputies responded to the area of 2906 Nela Avenue in reference to a possible drowning, according to an OCSO press release.
Our news partners at Channel 9 WFTV interviewed nearby resident Sara Dilmore; she described the wall-to-wall presence of rescue teams during the height of their search that night:
“My roommate, he was coming home and he saw all of it, he had to get diverted around because that’s on our path home,” Dilmore said.
“There was probably at least 20 firetrucks and stuff like that, and like I said, the helicopter with the spotlight down and everything.”
Just hours after the Marine Unit and Dive Team resumed their search this morning, the man’s body was recovered at about 12:00 p.m., according to OCSO.
The man’s identity has not been released at the time of this report.
