Former Warlock Motorcycle Club member Paul Smith is expected to testify in a Seminole County court Tuesday. Smith is on trial for the shooting death of a Warlocks Motorcycle Club member.
Smith claims he was in fear for his life when he fired the first shot in what investigators called a "turf war" at the Winter Springs VFW two years ago.
On Monday during defense testimony, Smith's attorney tried to prove he had a reasonable fear of being attacked by his former fellow motorcycle gang members.
Another former Florida Warlock testified that the group showed up at the charity poker run put on by Smith's new chapter called the Philly Warlocks, with the sole purpose of shutting it down.
Smith said he was beaten out of the Florida Warlocks 18 months before the fatal shootout.
Several witnesses told the court that his former gang wanted to retaliate after Smith started a new gang.
"You can't just start up a club around here. There are certain things you have to do, so if you didn't do it properly, you'd be shut down," said the unnamed witness.
