ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — One person is dead following a shooting at an apartment complex near the University of Central Florida.
Orange County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the Plaza on University apartments at approximately 4:30 a.m. on New Year’s Day where they found the victim, 23-year-old Jesus Calle.
Detectives have released a photo of a person of interest that may be connected to the shooting.

They are also looking for any witnesses who may have been in the area when Calle was shot.
The UCF Police Department alerted students via text message shortly after 5 a.m., insisting that they stay clear of the area.
Calle died after being taken to the hospital, and deputies say that the suspect took off after the shooting.
UCF Police sent students a second alert about four hours after the first, saying that they do not believe an active threat existed to the University community.
