A 40-year-old handyman is accused of stabbing a couple to death on their houseboat at the Loggerhead Marina in St. Petersburg.

Raynaldo Rigueroa-Sanabria was arrested early Saturday in Rocky Mount, N.C., and is awaiting extradition to Florida. He's accused of killing 75-year-old John Travlos and 74-year-old Germana Morin aboard their 72-foot-long boat.

The Tampa Bay Times (http://bit.ly/ZXzfZn ) reports Rigueroa-Sanabria had worked for the couple for at least six months. Police quickly considered him a suspect and he was pulled over by a state trooper on Interstate 95 in North Carolina. He told authorities he was heading to New York.

The couple was last seen alive Thursday night. Police say a large quantity of jewelry was missing from the boat.

Rigueroa-Sanabria has been charged with first-degree murder.
