California cop accused of masturbating in family’s home during disturbance call

A San Jose police officer is facing indecent exposure charges after he was caught masturbating in a family’s home during an investigation.

Officer Matthew Dominguez, 32, was taken into custody on Thursday, three weeks after he allegedly pleasured himself while he was on duty, according to the Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office. After Dominguez and two other officers were dispatched to a home where a mentally ill family member had become violent, he sent his peers out to look for the offender, says D.A. Jeff Rosen. He then began touching himself in front of two female family members before fully exposing himself to another, Rosen says. After one of the women reported the incident to the other officers, one of them returned to find Dominguez in the dining room, exposing himself.

“The charged behavior is beyond disturbing,” Rosen says. “Law enforcement officers respond to our homes to help crime victims, not terrorize, traumatize and create new victims.” If convicted, Dominguez -- who’s been placed on administrative leave -- could face up to a year in jail and be placed on the sexual offender list for 10 years, according to the D.A.’s office.
