Body of Jacksonville teen found exactly one year after he went missing

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said Monday the skull and other human bones found in Northwest Jacksonville have been identified as Corbin Odell Johnson,18. 

Johnson was reported missing over a year on July 13, 2018.

A man told police he found the human remains last week, while plowing a field in a remote area of Jacksonville in the 6700 block of Utsey Road. 

Police told Action News Jax foul play was suspected after detectives, cadaver dogs and forensic teams scoured the two-acre plot of land Friday. 

Johnson was last seen at home by his mom, roughly 12 miles from where his remains were found. His death is being investigated as a murder, according to the Sheriff’s Office. Read more here

Jacsonville, Fla. — Corbin Johnson was last seen July 11, 2018 after he did not return home from a series of job interviews.

Exactly one year later, skeletal remains were dug up by a man clearing land 12 miles from where the 18-year-old was living at the time he disappeared.

Jacksonville Sheriff's officials say the skeletal remains were wrapped in some type of plastic bag or tarp.

Authorities were able to identify Johnson Monday despite earlier claims that it would take weeks to identify the body.

They say the case is being investigated as a homicide but did not release a cause of death.
